Bon Jovi

The songs of Bon Jovi
The Complete Guide to the Music of Bon Jovi is an awesome book to read if you are a big fan. This book tells about their songs beginning with their first album Bon Jovi and going through the album These Days. Each song has it's own description of what it's about, where the idea came from to write it, and from who. If that isn't awesome enough, there are several photos of the band doing photo shoots and playing in concerts. This is definitely a book worth owning if you love Bon Jovi.

On the other half of the sky...
Not so long ago, I made a trip in Bon Jovi's world... It was a friday night, strange and unbelieveble night. I have been sat on my bed, and looked up to the cover of this book... My favorite band. I opened it, and have been discovered the other side of the simple blue pic, with five guys, figured on the cover... An unknown story appeared in all those interview's parts, since the begining up till 1996. Each tiny paragraphs was a part of memories related by the band's members. A cute diary that brought me in the Bon Jovi's reality... I can't remember when I was turned the last page and closed the book, but I know that when the sun has been woken me, the book was close to me, my hand still on it, and a song has been lodged in my head. I guess it was I sleep when I'm dead... But maybe it was just a dream:) A kind of trip, on the other half of the sky... Hope you'll enjoy it as I was...

AWSOME BOOK!
I've read all of The New Adventures OF Mary-Kate and Ashley, and this was definetly the best! It was sooo exciting, and every clue made you think harder.

It keeps you wondering until the end.
MaryKate & Ashley's friend Sam went to a cool rock concert and something went wrong at the concert featuring their favorite band. The Trenchcoat Twins are asked to help and discover who ruined the Bailey Brothers concert.

Classic Rock Climbs No. 22: Sam's Throne, Arkansas
Published in Paperback by Chockstone Pr (October, 1999)
Author: Clay Frisbie
Average review score:

Ozark climbing at its best
This book is very informative and easy to read. Gives great route descriptions; and the topos make finding your way around the area and locating the different routes a breeze. This is a "must have" book for climbing in the Sam's Throne area.

Informative and interesting
As climbing becomes more poplular, more guide books are being writen. I have found that most of these books give less than adequate descriptions of the area of interest. This book does not fit this catagory. Instead Clay Frisbee gives very informative route descriptions and provides good topos to add to finding a specific route. His description of the history and specifics of the route also make the book more interesting to read than most climbing guidebooks.

Climber's Guide to Pinnacles National Monument, 2nd
Published in Paperback by Falcon Publishing Company (November, 1995)
Author: David Rubine
Average review score:

Best climbing guide I know
The title says it, "best climbing guide I know." I'm not being paid to say this; don't know David Rubine. Why is it the best climbing guide I know? BECAUSE IT HAS ROUTE DESCRIPTIONS! The topos are accurate, and often backed up with excellent annotated black&white photos.

I'm basically a novice lead climber. I want 5.4's. Most guidebooks, should they lower themselves to include these "wimpy" routes, give little to no written or pictorial guidance. Rubine devotes equal energy to easy and hard climbs. As the previous reviewer notes, he even covers class 3/4 scrambles to interesting summits.

Best Bay Area Rock Climbing Guide
Dave Rubine's collection of recorded rock climbs for Pinnacles National Monument is comprehensive and fun to read for avid rock climbers. Whether you are looking for sport climbs or more traditional climbing, nothing is omitted. Even 3rd and 4th Class climbs are listed. With ratings on all climbs and written descriptions on most, staying on the correct climb is not hard. But beware the musical chairs handholds at Pinnacles. With descriptions like the "Know what you are getting into category" you can stay out of trouble. The construction of the spine is sturdy. Most of all, for you number tickers, there is a checklist of climbs by rating and two full indexes for cross referencing first ascentionists with page numbers and climbs alphabetically.

Collecting Phil Spector: The Man, the Legend, and the Music
Published in Hardcover by Popular Culture Ink (October, 1991)
Authors: John J. Fitzpatrick and James E. Fogerty
Average review score:

Great book about the greatest producer of popmusic ever!
This is a really helpful book to gain all the information you did not have about Phil Spector, the elusice en reclusive King of the Symphonies in Popmusic. There are so little books written about the man, that every single one you can get your hands on is a gift. This book certainly is. Lots of information, great pictures of very rare sleeves, you may never see in reality, because of their rarity. Get this book, while you still can and enjoy the life and times of the mad genius Phil Spector.

Let's hope any record company will let him work again, his way, so that we can enjoy some new music produced by The Man again !!

Still the one
I have just re-read the definitive Spector book "Collecting Phil Spector, the man, the legend the music" first issued in 1991. The book format, graphics, it's observations and analysis hold up over the years and is surely the definitive critical overview of Spector-sound. It has proven to be a timeless treasure which entertains and invites the reader to return again and again.

The Complete Guide to the Music of Paul Simon and Simon & Garfunkel
Published in Paperback by Omnibus Press (April, 1997)
Authors: Chris Charlesworth and John Robertson
Average review score:

Charlesworth Does It Again
Chris Charlesworth has written a similar volume for the Who which was one of the best ever written about their music. This succeeds as well providing a great deal of information about Paul Simon and his songs (each track is discussed). However, I felt that Art Garfunkel got the short end of the stick because his solo career doesn't get the same treatment and receives only brief allusions. Now the the Old Friends box set has been released, maybe a revised version could include Garfunkel's solo work, too.

Great Overview Of Simon & Garfunkel
Best book of its kind about the duo. Great review of their career and music in a compact format.

The Complete Guide to the Music of Steely Dan (Complete Guides to the Music of)
Published in Paperback by Omnibus Press (April, 1998)
Author: Brian Sweet
Average review score:

Stab It With Their Steely Knives
A great little book which details the backgrounds of all of their songs. This author is an expert on this duo, also having written a biography about them.

A definite read for the Steely Dan Fan
I found this book to be well researched and seemed to pretty well cover most of their career. A great insight into the weird and wonderful world of Mr Becker and Mr Fagen and some insight into their creative process. If your a fan of the band don't miss this.

The Complete Guide to the Music of the Who (Complete Guide to the Music of)
Published in Paperback by Omnibus (December, 1995)
Author: Chris Charlesworth
Average review score:

This Little Book Is One Of The Best Ones About The Who
The Complete Guide series is one of the best series about popular music around. Most of the books examine artists' albums in a song by song format, often providing details unavailable elsewhere. This particular book about the Who is one of the best because it is written by one of the leading experts on the group (he helped with the box set) and provides exhaustive information about every song. This is invaluable to Who lovers anywhere.

The Who!
A small book which examines every song recorded by the Who, one of the most majestic rock bands of all time. Mr Charlesworth is the leading expert on the Who and this book pays great attention to detail.

The Complete Rock Climber
Published in Hardcover by Lorenz Books (August, 2003)
Authors: Malcolm Creasey, Nigel Shephard, Nick Banks, Neil Gresham, and Ray Wood
Average review score:

The best all-around climbing reference book I've found
As a beginning climber, I wanted to find a book that would cover all the basics under one cover. I went to several book stores and made lots of comparisons before purchasing "The Complete Rock Climber". This is a definite must-have book for beginners, and even more experienced climbers will benefit from the comprehensive coverage of the sport. Full color pictures and diagrams illustrate a lot of the great information you'll find here, including equipment, knots, ropes, holds and training. The book even covers such topics as navigation, mountain weather and first aid. If you're looking for a great all-around climbing reference, this is the book for you.

Great for beginners, useful for more advanced climbers
An excellent book, covering everything needed for the climber that's starting out. Also covers some areas for the more advanced and experienced climber.
